Understanding Air Cargo Export Procedures
Published: 09.05.2020
Procedures for the export of air cargo include a number of stages, including export documentation. Find out what you need when organizing air travel.

Of course, customs is a major factor in the procedures for exporting air cargo and can be a serious obstacle for some. This is especially applicable if you do not have the necessary documentation. Some procedures related to air transportation of goods depend on the cargo itself.

There are a number of documents that need to be provided for export. Of course, the product used and the destination may require more specific requirements. The following subsections are included for export documents:

  • Temporary shipping documents
  • Certificates for the shipment of certain goods
  • Certificates of origin
  • Compliance Documents
  • Transport Documents
  • General Export Documents and more

In particular, general export documents may include the following:

  • Invoice invoice
  • Export Packing List
  • Invoice

For many, this is already difficult. This is why companies are increasingly turning to logistics support companies to reduce transportation headaches, especially when transporting goods around the world.

Here is a simplified list of steps taken while moving the product from the manufacturer to your desired destination.

The product is manufactured, packaged, and delivered to the sender. While the goods are delivered from the manufacturer to the airport (probably by land transport), there is an electronic data exchange between the manufacturer, the shipper, the airport and the forwarders at their final destination.

If the delivery is international, airport customs takes effect when the parcel arrives at the airport. Proper paperwork is important. Customs will either release or ban the export. The following issues may participate in the document flow: air waybill, flight manifest, packing list and much more.

After passing the customs, the cargo is loaded onto the plane.

Upon arrival at the destination airport, goods must undergo customs entry. They must be either rejected or accepted.

From there, the product is transferred from the airport to the final destination (possibly a storage / warehouse).

From the warehouse or from the warehouse, products are distributed to stores or directly to consumers. 3PL - logistics companies can simplify everything: from receiving goods to warehousing, transportation, delivery and much more. Logistics companies today perform the following responsibilities in the supply chain (these responsibilities apply to the supply chain, from the manufacturer to the consumer):

  • Move goods (all delivery / transportation functions)
  • Implementation, planning and control of this storage and movement

Some logistics services, depending on the logistics needs of their customers, will fulfill all or only some of the above responsibilities.

Naturally, not only logistics companies take responsibility for the above responsibilities, they provide staff to carry out these tasks. This saves manufacturers not only the headache associated with all issues related to logistics, but also saves the costs and time of additional staff, warehousing, etc.

UNIVERSAL LOGISTICS knows what to do when it comes to delivery and transportation. We know all the intricacies associated with the procedures for exporting air cargo and much more.
